How We Got Started
A Note From the Founder...
The idea of Let There Be Mom first surfaced in October 2006. I was involved in my everyday routine and "BOOM", there it was, stuck in my head. I became overwhelmed as I envisioned myself being diagnosed with a serious illness and given only a short amount of time to live. There was so much to do, to organize, to say, to plan, to make happen. I was under enormous stress and I was only imagining this scenario. There was an intense desire to bring peace to those who were actually face to face with this reality. But then, I let the idea fade away.
In early December, I asked God to use me in his work. This was the first time I did so with any conviction. The next day, I met Jennifer, a 29 year old mother of two. Jennifer shared her story, told me of her illness, and of her fear that she may be celebrating her last Christmas. Moments later the idea had returned and Let There Be Mom was born again in my head.
I have repeatedly checked this assignment with God and repeatedly, He has confirmed it with me. It was with Him by my side and Jennifer on my mind that I began this journey in January 2007.
I hope that Let There Be Mom touches many lives. Whether you are a healthy mom or one suffering from an illness, we are all only here for a short time. Moms, treasure the moments you have, pass on traditions, and make record of what you can, because one day, they won't be able to ask you for your famous double chocolate peanut butter chunk cookie recipe.
