How & Who We Help      Our Services            Who is eligible                  Who can Apply on behalf of a Family

Services We Offer:
As Let There Be Mom continues to develop, we will use our experiences with each family to lead our way. We will seek to preserve the memories they already have and search for ways to help them generate new ones. An illness can take a toll on a family in many ways, financially, emotionally and of-course, physically. With this in mind we have developed a core starting point for our services.

Initial Meeting:
A lead team of two volunteers will meet with each mom/dad and discuss areas in which we can provide support. They will brainstorm with her/him to discover what they think will work best for their family based on the current medical state of the ill parent.

"Mom Team" in action:
The 2 team leaders will then assemble a full support team to focus on the family and work on coordinating services for them.

Amount of support/time dedicated to each family:
Unfortunately, the resources of Let There Be Mom are not limitless. In our efforts to help each family that qualifies for our services, it is necessary to limit the amount of money spent on and time spent with each family. At this time, we anticipate working approximately 3 months with each family.

Ideas on ways we can help:
Hire a photographer, supply journals, get the family a video camera, purchase "gifts for the future", coordinate family meal & errand teams, coordinate special events (i.e.birthdays, anniversaries, etc.), give hospital care packages (to include books, art supplies, video games, snacks, etc.), compile a family cookbook of Mom's (or Dad's) favorite recipes, and many more ideas are waiting to be discovered.

To Apply for Our Services:
If you would like to nominate yourself, or if you are aware of another Mom or Dad who is living with a life threatening illness, please
contact us.
Who is Eligible For Our Services

Let There Be Mom provides assistance to moms when they, or their child's father, are diagnosed with a life threatening illness.  The moms we serve must have at least one dependent child, under the age of 18, residing in their home.  The physician of each qualifying mom must agree that her, or her child's father's,  illness is life threatening and attest to the fact that should the mother or father refuse medical treatment their life expectancy would be 2 years or less.  We do not discriminate based on age, race, religion or financial status.

Each mother who meets our criteria and who is interested in establishing her legacy (or the legacy of her child's father) should contact us to let us know of her interest.  In order to determine her eligibility for our services, we will mail her a full application packet.  Upon completion of all necessary forms, by the patient, family members and the physician the entire application will be reviewed.  When a Mom is accepted into our program Her Team will be assigned as soon as possible.

At this time, we are able to serve families that live in or around the Greenville, SC area.  Our vision is to expand nationwide.

Who Can Submit an Application for a Family

Due to the sensitive nature of our cause, we require that the family who is seeking services complete the application for services.

If you know of a mom or dad who you believe would qualify for our services, please provide us with their mailing address and we will send them a brochure with a note stating that "someone who loves and cares about them thought that they might be able to benefit from our services".
